Byzantium - The Book of Kells & St. Aidan's Journey continues the long time friendship and partnerships between keyboardist, Jeff Johnson and flutist, Brian Dunning (Nightnoise). Based on the novel written by Stephen Lawhead, Jeff and Brian set out to capture the spirit of the epic tale, rather than create a musical score for it. The diverse settings of Aidan's adventure allowed them to point their contemporary Celtic leanings in an Eastern direction. Along the way, they have interwoven their style of Celtic, film and rock music with medieval and Middle Eastern backdrops. The resulting tapestry owes much of its richness to the significant contributions of classical vocalist Janet Chvatal, Irish violinist John Fitzpatrick, and Turkish virtuoso Omar Faruk Tekbilek.
