Maeve Gilchrist, Song Of Delight

Daughter to an Irish mother and a Scottish father, harpist, singer and songwriter Maeve Gilchrist grew up immersed in traditional folk music. Song of Delight, her debut for Adventure Music America and the second CD of her career, manages to both reflect those deep roots and yet branch out in a distinctive direction that is singularly of her own design. Produced by the virtuoso violinist Darol Anger, Song of Delight features the Boston-based Gilchrist on harp and vocals, accompanied by a stringed ensemble comprised of bass, violin and mandolin. Gilchrist penned eight of the CD’s eleven tracks, deriving her inspiration from the people and places she’s encountered in her life and work. In addition to her own CDs and performances, Gilchrist’s talents have led her to collaborations with a wide variety of acclaimed contemporary artists, including Darol Anger, Kathy Mattea and Grammy Award-winning bassist, Esperanza Spalding.
